In the 1930s, she performed with the Mighty Wiggle Carnival, Joe Jesse's orchestra, and her own touring review. She performed at the Blue Jay Club, where she met the trumpeter De De Pierce ; they married in 1935 and led their own ensemble, which served as the house band at Luthjen's Dance Hall in the 1950s. De De became blind in the 1950s causing their career to stall, but it picked up again in the 1960s as Dixieland jazz experienced a revival. [5] She was a regular on the New Orleans jazz scene in the 1950s through the early 1970s, playing in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band . [1]

Her father Leonard Wilkinson was the younger brother of my father William
Edward Wilkinson, born 1880.
They were sons of Thomas Ledsham Wilkinson, of the city of Chester in the
UK. Leonard Wilkinson emigrated to Canada propably soon after the first
world war and married a Canadian woman Minnie. They had a daughter Lenore
and a son several years younger, name unknown.
To the best of my knowledge they first lived in the Vancouver area. About
1938 they came back to the UK and lived some time with my family in
Prestatyn, North Wales.
After the war they returned to Canada and lived in the Toronto area. All
were members of the Plymouth Brethren community and Lenore worked and
travelled for them, several times to the UK.

There are many examples of the sisters working together in various combinations over the years. In the '20s Sadie Goodson accompanied Edna Goodson , at that point concentrating on her vocalizing, in a touring revue known as the Mighty Wiggle Carnival. Many years later the former sister performed together with Ida Goodson at festivals in both the United States and abroad. Apparently in their youth, all of the sisters trekked around the Gulf Coast to get in on jazz opportunities in New Orleans and surrounding environs, to the great horror of parents who had provided them with piano training with the hope that careers in gospel music would follow.
